Introduction

Who we are. CampusESP is a website and application platform owned and operated by CampusESP, Inc.  In this 

privacy policy, CampusESP will have the meaning (i.e., as our website/app or our company) that the context 

requires.  This privacy policy provides important information about the use and disclosure of user information 

collected on CampusESP.  Please be sure to read the entire privacy policy before using CampusESP.

Your consent.  By using CampusESP, you agree to this privacy policy and the practices set forth in this privacy 

policy.

Scope.  CampusESP is made available to you through an educational or other institution that is a customer of 

CampusESP, and this privacy policy does not supersede the privacy policy of that institution or other applicable 

terms between you and that institution.  In addition, this privacy policy does not apply to content or websites linked 

to/from or using CampusESP or to entities or applications that CampusESP does not own or control, including 

content and links posted by the institution through which you are using CampusESP.  CampusESP is not affiliated 

with and does not endorse content, items or services of those websites or third-parties.  When you click on links on 

CampusESP, you may leave our site.  CampusESP is not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites, and we 

encourage you to read their privacy statements.  CampusESP has no responsibility or liability for the availability of 

such external websites, or for the privacy, use, storage or transfer of your information or the content, advertising, 

products, or other materials shared by you or available through such websites.

 

INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE

Information about yourself. When you create a CampusESP account, you provide us with information about 

yourself, such as your first and last names, email address and password.  Some of this information may be provided, 

if you elect, through a social login, such as to your Facebook or LinkedIN account.  The information you provide 

through a social login is governed by your privacy settings on those sites.  In addition, if you elect, certain 

information about you may be presented within CampusESP through access to your institution’s student databases.  

This may include personally identifiable information, such as your name, address, email address, age, gender and, as 

applicable, student information, such as grades, financial aid or billing information.  

Personally Identifiable Information.  Personally identifiable information provided to CampusESP will be kept 

private and will not be shared with or disclosed to anybody but you or, as applicable, users of CampusESP who you 

authorize through CampusESP to access such information, except as expressly provided in this privacy policy.  

Information you share publicly with others.  Any information you choose to share on the CampusESP platform 

will be available publicly, both to users of CampusESP and others. 

Information you share in public areas.  CampusESP may include a public platform for sharing articles and other 

content, as well as your questions, comments and messages relating to those subjects.  All of this information will 

become public, so you should be careful about what you share.  

Information about others.  CampusESP is a public forum and the rules of public courtesy and etiquette apply.  

Please do not disclose any private or personal information about another person without prior consent.

Metadata.  If you do not want us to store metadata associated with content you share on CampusESP (such as 

photos), you must remove the metadata before uploading the content.

 

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Site activity information. We keep track of most of the actions you take on CampusESP.  Additionally, certain

anonymous information may be passively collected (that is, gathered without your actively providing the 

information) using various technologies, including cookies.

Access device and browser information. When you access CampusESP from a computer, mobile phone, or other 

device, we may collect information from that device about your domain name, browser type, language, location, and 

IP address, as well as the pages you visit.

 

Cookie information. We use "cookies" (small pieces of data we store for an extended period of time on your 

computer, mobile phone, or other device) to make CampusESP easier to use and to protect both you and 

CampusESP.  You can remove or block cookies using the settings in your browser, but in some cases that may 

impact your ability to use CampusESP.

 

HOW WE SHARE AND USE YOUR INFORMATION

To serve personalized content to you. CampusESP doesn’t share your personally identifiable information with 

content providers, such as universities and other educational institutions.  However, we may share and utilize other 

information, even after you delete your account, with our content providers.  We may allow content providers to 

choose the characteristics of users who will see their content and we may use any of the attributes we have collected 

to select the appropriate audience for those pieces of content.  When you click on or otherwise interact with a piece 

of content, there is a possibility that the content provider may place a cookie in your browser and note that it meets 

the criteria they selected.

 

To offer joint services. CampusESP may provide services jointly with other companies. We may share your 

information to facilitate that service.  However, we will identify the partner and present the joint service provider’s 

privacy policy to you before you use that service.

 

To work with our service providers.  CampusESP may share your information with service providers who are 

working with us in connection with the operation of CampusESP or our services. These service providers may have 

access to your personally identifiable information only to perform services on our behalf and will be obligated not to 

disclose it or use it for any other purposes.

 

To generate market research.  CampusESP does not sell or share your personally identifiable information.  

However, CampusESP may use other information without limitations or restrictions, for any purpose, even after you 

delete your account.  These purposes may include, among others, producing market research, statistics or third party 

market research.  Under no circumstance will your personally identifiable information be disclosed by CampusESP 

for any of these purposes.

 

To manage the service. CampusESP uses information we collect (including the information you provide, such as 

personally identifiable information, information provided publicly and passively collected anonymous information) 

to provide the services and features of CampusESP to you and to administer CampusESP.  This includes to analyze, 

measure, improve, market, promote and customize CampusESP, as well as to prevent potentially illegal activities, 

detect and address anomalous activity and screen content to prevent abuse, and to enforce our Terms of Use (using a 

variety of technological systems).  We may also use this information to promote CampusESP and for our business 

development.  Under no circumstance will your personally identifiable information be disclosed by CampusESP for 

any of these purposes.

 

To contact you. CampusESP may contact you with service-related announcements, marketing communications, 

promotions and other information.  We may include personally identifiable information and content you see on 

CampusESP in the communications we send to you. 

 

To respond to legal requests and prevent harm. CampusESP may disclose information pursuant to subpoenas, 

court orders, or other requests (including criminal and civil matters) if we have a good faith belief that the response 

is required by law. We may also share information when we have a good faith belief it is necessary to prevent fraud 

or other illegal activity, to prevent imminent bodily harm, or to protect ourselves and you from people violating our 

Terms of Use. This may include sharing information with other companies, lawyers, courts or other government 

entities.

 

Review of and rights to content.  We have the right (but not the obligation) to edit, delete, publish or not publish 

anything shared in a public area.  The content of any posting, other than third party images and links (for which you 

are responsible, including for obtaining rights to post), becomes our property for any use we may determine, without 

any notice or compensation to the author.  While CampusESP may screen content to prevent abuse and to enforce 

our Terms of Use, CampusESP has no obligation to do so or to edit, delete, publish or not publish anything posted 

by you or others, unless and until we have actual knowledge of an abuse or violation of our Terms of Use.

 

Other requirements.  CampusESP may use information about you for any other purpose that we determine in our 

reasonable discretion is necessary or appropriate in connection with the operation of CampusESP, including 

maintaining, termination or transferring accounts, enabling or restricting access to accounts or ensuring compliance 

with our policies or applicable legal requirements.  CampusESP shares your information with third parties when we 

believe the sharing is permitted by you or is reasonably necessary in connection with the operation of CampusESP 

or when legally required to do so. 

 

HOW YOU CAN CHANGE OR REMOVE INFORMATION

Editing and deactivating your profile. You may change or remove your profile information at any time in 

accordance with the instructions on CampusESP.  If you want to stop using your account you may deactivate it or 

delete it. When you deactivate an account, it will not be deleted. We save your profile information in case you later 

decide to reactivate your account.  When you delete an account, it is permanently deleted from CampusESP and may 

never be reactivated.  When we delete your account, this means we delete all personally identifiable information, but 

we do NOT delete other information about you.  By using CampusESP, you agree that we may keep this information 

permanently.

 

Limitations on removal. Even after you remove information from your profile or delete your account, copies of 

that information may remain viewable on CampusESP and elsewhere to the extent it has been shared publicly or 

with others.  Certain types of communications that you send cannot be removed. Additionally, we may retain certain 

information to prevent identity theft and other misconduct even if deletion has been requested.  If you have given 

third party applications or websites access to your information, they may retain your information to the extent 

permitted under their terms of service or privacy policies.  We may retain backup copies of removed and deleted 

information and may use such information for the purposes described in and in accordance with this privacy policy.

 

HOW WE PROTECT INFORMATION

Steps we take to keep your information secure. We keep your account information on a secured server behind a 

firewall. When you enter personally identifiable information, we encrypt that information, during transmission over 

the internet, using secure socket layer technology (SSL).  But you should keep in mind that no Internet transmission 

is ever completely secure or error-free.

 

Risks inherent in sharing information.  Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We 

cannot control the actions of other users with whom you share your information. We cannot guarantee that only 

authorized persons will view your information. We cannot ensure that information you share on CampusESP, 

including personally identifiable information, will not become publicly available. We are not responsible for third 

party circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures on CampusESP. You can reduce these risks by 

using common sense security practices such as choosing a strong password, using different passwords for different 

services, and using up to date antivirus software.

 

Report violations. You should report any security violations to us at info@CampusESP.com.

 

OTHER TERMS

Changes.  If this privacy policy changes, the revised policy will be posted on CampusESP.  You will be notified if 

the privacy policy changes and we encourage you to read it carefully before you provide any personally identifiable 

information.  Changes will not apply retroactively to personal information that was collected before the changes to 

the privacy policy, except as may be required by law. 

 

Consent to collection and processing in the United States. By using CampusESP, you consent to having your 

personal data transferred to and processed and stored in the United States.  The CampusESP website and services are 

hosted in the United States and are intended for and directed to Users in the United States. If you are a User 

accessing CampusESP from the European Union, Asia, or any other region with laws or regulations governing 

personal data collection, use, and disclosure, that differ from United States laws, please be advised that through your 

continued use of the CampusESP which are governed by U.S. law, this Privacy Policy, and our Terms of Use, you 

are transferring your personal information to the United States and you consent to that transfer.

 

About children.  CampusESP is not intended for children under the age of 18, and as provided in the Terms of Use, 

you must be at least 18 to use CampusESP.  If you are under age 18, please do not attempt to register for 

CampusESP or provide any information about yourself to us. If we learn that we have collected personal 

information from a child under age 18, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we 

might have any information from a child under age 18, please contact us at support@campusesp.com.

 

No liability.

YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES  WILL CAMPUSESP/VOICEMINE, LLC BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, HOWSOEVER CAUSED, AND ON ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, WHETHER FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, NEGLIGENCE AND STRICT LIABILITY), OR OTHERWISE, RESULTING FROM THE USE OF CAMPUSESP, ANY INFORMATION OR CONTENT POSTED OR MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH CAMPUSESP (OR ANY ACCESS TO OR DISCLOSURE THEREOF) OR ANY OTHER MATTER RELATING TO CAMPUSESP.  YOU HEREBY WAIVE AND RELEASE ALL RIGHTS RELATING TO THE FOREGOING.
