CampusESP does not train, fine-tune, or otherwise modify any AI model using customer data, and our AI providers are contractually prohibited from training on data we send them. AI requests are stateless and prompt-response. Depending on the feature, inputs range from narrowly scoped content we programmatically control (for example, translating a newsfeed post) to user conversations with our AI assistant. No PII or FERPA-protected data is sent to any model.

Conversational AI features are served through Amazon Bedrock within CampusESP's isolated Virtual Private Cloud, where Amazon Bedrock Guardrails detect and filter PII and other sensitive content before user input ever reaches a model. Select features, including image captions, text translation, and content refinement, are powered by the OpenAI API using only content we programmatically control; these requests are encrypted in transit and never used for training. Data is never shared across tenants.

CampusESP's AI providers, OpenAI and AWS, are SOC 2 compliant and pass through our formal vendor security review before use. Institutions that prefer not to use AI features can opt out entirely.
